The North America Nebula and the Pelican Nebula appear visually divided into two separate objects as filaments of non-ionized gas obscure the glowing ionized gas behind them. Photographed with an 11" reflector telescope and narrowband filters, with a total exposure time of approximately 20 hours. Ionized oxygen (O-III) emits a turquoise-blue light, while the ionization of sulfur and hydrogen appears golden yellow.
