Simeis 147, IC410 and IC405

65 x 120 cm (laminated aluminum print)

The supernova remnant Simeis 147 is located in the upper part of the image, with the emission nebulae IC 410 and IC 405 in the lower section.

The composition carries the same spirit as Botticelli's famous Italian painting The Birth of Venus (Nascita di Venere), created in the latter half of the 15th century.

When we observe the remnants of a supernova, we are simultaneously looking at the birthplaces of the particles from which we ourselves are made. All elements heavier than hydrogen and helium—such as iron, oxygen, and carbon—are formed in supernova explosions. This is the true birthplace of Venus.

The total exposure time is approximately 100 hours, accumulated over a period of four years.
